Dr. Bryan Strelow

Dr. Anna Mackin is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon who provides the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina care. She treats retinal detachments and tears, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and other complex retinal conditions using state-of-the-art imaging, laser, injections, and microsurgery. Dr. Mackin earned her medical degree from the University of Colorado in 2015, completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2019, and finished a fellowship in diseases and surgery of the retina, macula, and vitreous as the Snyder Family Endowed Fellow at the University of Chicago in 2021. She has been recognized for research on age-related macular degeneration and received the Best Fellow Paper (Been-Fisher) Award from the Chicago Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Apoorv Chebolu is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon at Virginia Retina Specialists who treats the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina conditions. His expertise includes diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular diseases, complex retinal detachment repair, and secondary intraocular lens solutions. He also performs advanced procedures such as subretinal injections for gene therapy and manages inherited retinal diseases and uveitis. A Northern Virginia native, Dr. Chebolu earned a computer engineering degree with high distinction from the University of Virginia and completed his MD at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He served as chief resident during ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center and completed fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania. His recognitions include the Cetner Award, Veterans Affairs Resident of the Year, Best Fellow Case Presentation (Atlantic Coast Retina Club), and a Fellow Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr. Ali R. Salman is a vitreoretinal surgeon and retina specialist at The Retina Group of Washington. He treats the full range of medical and surgical retinal conditions with a careful, patient-first approach that emphasizes education and timely intervention. His practice includes management of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, vascular occlusions, and urgent retinal problems requiring advanced imaging and surgery. Dr. Salman earned his undergraduate degree summa cum laude in biomedical engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed his MD at VCU School of Medicine. After an internship at Riverside Regional Medical Center, he completed ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a high-volume, two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Retina Consultants of Minnesota, receiving the VitreoRetinal Surgery Foundation Research Award and contributing to multiple clinical trials. Board-certified and active in national societies, he is bilingual in English and Arabic.
