Dr. Brian Herst

A board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist, this physician focuses on both the medical and surgical management of glaucoma. Care includes comprehensive eye evaluations as well as advanced options such as Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), with an emphasis on matching treatment to each patient’s goals and stage of disease.

Training includes undergraduate study at the University of Illinois, Champaign–Urbana, followed by medical school and ophthalmology residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, including service as Chief Resident. A glaucoma fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans provided additional experience managing complex cataracts and glaucoma surgeries. In addition to clinical practice, this physician helps train future ophthalmologists as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Rush University and stays engaged with professional societies to keep care aligned with evolving evidence and techniques.
