Dr. Brent Betts

Dr. Jason Hooton is a cornea and external disease specialist who cares for patients with a wide range of corneal conditions, from dry eye and ocular surface disease to corneal infections. He has a special focus on complex cataract surgery and partial-thickness corneal transplantation, using modern techniques to help patients see more clearly and comfortably. Originally from Rexburg, Idaho, Dr. Hooton graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University-Idaho and attended the University of Washington School of Medicine as an Idaho WWAMI student. He completed ophthalmology training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and then pursued fellowship training in Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive Surgery at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. He brings this advanced training to help patients understand their options and feel confident in a clear, step-by-step care plan.

Dr. Wyatt Messenger is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in corneal disease, corneal surgery, and cataract surgery. He completed medical school at Oregon Health & Science University, followed by ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He then pursued a fellowship in corneal diseases and surgeries at the University of Washington, training in the full spectrum of modern corneal procedures. At Hollingshead Barrett Eye Center, Dr. Messenger provides patient-focused care for conditions ranging from keratoconus and Fuchs’ dystrophy to pterygium and complex corneal scarring, and offers cataract surgery with an emphasis on safety, precision, and clear communication. He is committed to helping each patient understand their diagnosis and options, and works closely with the practice’s team to deliver coordinated care and excellent outcomes.
