About Me
Dr. Boris Rosin is a vitreoretinal surgeon and physician-scientist whose clinical practice spans the full range of medical and surgical retina care, with a special focus on inherited retinal diseases (IRDs). He completed an MD-PhD at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with distinction, after earlier training in mathematics and computer science and work as an R&D software engineer. Dr. Rosin finished ophthalmology residency and a vitreoretinal fellowship at Hadassah–Hebrew University Medical Center, where he co-directed the retinal electrophysiology unit and developed a deep interest in IRDs. Seeking broader surgical exposure, he then completed a second vitreoretinal fellowship at UPMC and joined the University of Pittsburgh faculty as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. He performs all types of vitreoretinal surgery, leads a laboratory studying visual signal processing in models of IRDs, and serves as local principal investigator for observational studies in inherited retinal disease. His work has been recognized with a Career Development Award from the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
