Dr. Benson Chen

Benson Chen, MD is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist providing care at Washington Eye Care in Bellevue, Washington. He offers a full range of eye care services, including diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and eyelid disorders, as well as refractive surgery and contact lens management.

Dr. Chen's inspiration to pursue medicine came from his experience volunteering as an operating room translator for Operation Smile in China, where he witnessed the impact of reconstructive surgery. His background includes research in gene therapy and retinal pericyte biology. He completed his medical training at institutions across the country before relocating to the Seattle area in 2006, where he formed Washington Eye Care.

Dr. Chen is affiliated with Swedish Issaquah, Swedish Cherry Hill, and Swedish First Hill. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and other professional organizations. He is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
