About Me
Dr. Anastasios John Kanellopoulos is a board-certified ophthalmologist and the founder and scientific director of LaserVision Clinical & Research Eye Institute in Athens, Greece. He also serves as a clinical professor of ophthalmology at New York University Medical School in New York City. Dr. Kanellopoulos specializes in corneal procedures, cataract microsurgery, glaucoma surgery, and refractive surgery, offering advanced surgical care for a range of eye conditions.
Dr. Kanellopoulos is recognized for his pioneering contributions to ophthalmology, including being the first surgeon to perform a laser cataract operation with an incision under two millimeters. He introduced the Athens Protocol, a treatment combining topography-guided partial PRK with corneal crosslinking stabilization, and continues to train fellow ophthalmologists in advanced laser techniques. His practice spans both Europe and New York City, where he provides expertise in corneal transplantation, laser refractive surgery, and complex glaucoma management.
