Dr. Allie Simpson

Dr. Samuel A. Whittier is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist providing medical and surgical eye care at Wolfe Eye Clinic. He welcomes patients for cataract evaluation and surgery as well as the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, corneal disease, and common retinal conditions. His approach emphasizes careful examination, clear communication, and treatment plans that match each patient’s goals and lifestyle. Dr. Whittier earned his medical degree from the University of Utah and completed an Imaging Fellowship and associate research role before continuing training at the University of Wisconsin, where he also completed his internship within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He will see patients in the Ames and Ankeny clinics. Outside of work, he and his family enjoy the outdoors, sports, and live music.

Dr. Caroline Wilson is an accomplished ophthalmologist at Vance Thompson Vision serving patients in the Cedar Rapids area. She specializes in cataract, corneal, glaucoma, and refractive surgery, offering advanced surgical options to help patients reduce dependence on glasses and contact lenses. Originally from Alabama, Dr. Wilson earned her medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. She then completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa, where she received the prestigious ASCRS Resident Excellence Award in recognition of her surgical skill and patient-centered care. Following residency, she pursued a highly competitive surgical fellowship at Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, further refining her expertise in cataract surgery, laser vision correction, and minimally invasive glaucoma procedures. Dr. Wilson is an active member of national professional organizations and enjoys collaborating with optometrists and other physicians to provide seamless, team-based eye care. Patients appreciate her warm demeanor, clear explanations, and thoughtful approach to shared decision-making.

Dr. Elaine Binkley is an ophthalmologist with University of Iowa Physicians who specializes in retina and vitreous care, including the diagnosis and treatment of complex retinal disease and eye tumors. She cares for patients with conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular holes, retinal detachment, and ocular cancers, and offers advanced surgical options to help protect and restore vision. Dr. Binkley is especially passionate about how detailed retinal examinations and modern imaging can pinpoint problems in a tissue less than a millimeter thick—and how today’s surgical techniques can meaningfully improve a patient’s vision and quality of life. Her training includes ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, followed by specialized fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery and retina research at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, as well as ocular oncology consulting experience at Cleveland Clinic.
