Dr. Alexander Barsam

Dr. Alexander Barsam is an ophthalmologist dedicated to helping adults preserve and improve their vision. His main focus is cataract surgery, where he offers advanced technology intraocular lenses, as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. He understands that undergoing eye surgery can be daunting and prioritizes making patients feel comfortable throughout the process.

After his residency, Dr. Barsam served as Chief of Ophthalmic Trauma at Washington University in St. Louis, where he later became Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. He taught cataract surgery to senior residents and worked with the glaucoma team at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and sees patients through Duke Health's network.
