About Me
Alex Stoddard, MD, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist serving patients in the Cape Fear region. He provides modern cataract surgery tailored to each person’s lifestyle goals and has particular interest in premium lens implants that can reduce dependence on glasses, including multifocal and extended depth-of-focus options. Dr. Stoddard also offers laser vision correction and implantable collamer lenses for patients who are not LASIK candidates, and performs microinvasive glaucoma surgery when appropriate.
Dr. Stoddard completed his ophthalmology residency with the National Capital Consortium at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He earned his MD at Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine, preceded by a master’s in medical physiology and a bachelor’s in biology.
