About Me

Dr. Alexander Altman is a fellowship-trained cornea specialist with expertise in the medical and surgical treatment of corneal and external eye diseases. His clinical interests include full- and partial-thickness corneal transplantation (such as DMEK, DSAEK, and PK), advanced cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implantation, laser vision correction (LASIK), and the management of ocular surface disease.

Dr. Altman earned his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and pursued advanced fellowship training in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, one of the nation’s premier programs in corneal surgery.

Born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, Dr. Altman enjoys skiing, hiking, golfing, playing tennis, and cooking in his free time. A devoted Eagles and 76ers fan, he never misses a chance to talk sports. He is excited to join the Maryland ophthalmology community and is committed to providing the highest quality eye care with a personalized, patient-centered approach.
