Dr. Alain Bauza

Dr. Alain Bauza is an ophthalmologist offering comprehensive eye care and surgical services to patients in the Eatontown and Brick areas of New Jersey. A native of New Jersey, he completed his undergraduate education at Rutgers University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Genetics with Magna Cum Laude honors. He then attended New Jersey Medical School for his medical degree, where he received the Ruy V. Lourenҫo, M.D. Dean’s Academic Achievement Award and the Abdol H. Islami Foundation Scholarship. Following medical school, Dr. Bauza completed a Transitional Year Internship at Christiana Care Health System in Delaware, serving as the Internship Representative for the Resident Education Committee. He then undertook his ophthalmology residency at Boston University Medical Center, where his outstanding performance led to his nomination and service as Chief Resident.

Dr. Bauza is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and maintains active membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Medical Society of New Jersey. His clinical interests include cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, dry eye disease, macular degeneration and diabetic screening, and glaucoma management. He has been recognized with numerous honors, including being named a Castle Connolly Top Doctors Rising Star, a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, a Jersey’s Best Magazine Top Doctor, a Top Doctor in the New York Metro Guide, and a New York Magazine Top Doctor.

As a first-generation Cuban American and the first in his family to earn a medical degree, Dr. Bauza is fluent in both English and Spanish, enabling him to serve a diverse patient population. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, spending time with his family, and learning new hobbies.
