Dr. William Mayo

Dr. William S. Mayo is a retired ophthalmologist who dedicated his career to providing compassionate, expert eye care to patients in Oxford, Mississippi. A native Mississippian, Dr. Mayo completed his medical training at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine and his ophthalmology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical School, where he served as Chief Resident. He later served as Ophthalmology Department Head in the U.S. Navy.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mayo was known for his unwavering commitment to patient care and his expertise in treating a range of eye conditions. He was involved in professional leadership, serving as past president of the ENT Society and the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association. Dr. Mayo also contributed to the medical community through his service on the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure and the American Osteopathic Association Board of Trustees.
