Meet Dr. Walter Kunz
About Me
Dr. Kunz is an ophthalmologist who earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 2010. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Ross Eye Institute, SUNY University at Buffalo, where he was honored as chief resident and received the Most Outstanding Resident award. Dr. Kunz further advanced his expertise through a fellowship in Corneal and External Disease at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, University of Oklahoma, where he performed numerous surgeries including the latest corneal endothelial transplantation techniques.
His clinical focus includes laser vision correction surgery and cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation. He utilizes advanced technology lens implants to address astigmatism and near vision, aiming to minimize the need for glasses after cataract surgery. Dr. Kunz is skilled in various cornea transplantation methods such as Penetrating Keratoplasty, Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty, and Descemet’s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty for treating a range of corneal conditions.
A native Oregonian, Dr. Kunz has returned to the Pacific Northwest and is dedicated to providing eye care. He has presented research on ocular surface disease, corneal infections, and refractive surgery at national conferences, contributing to the field of ophthalmology.
