About Me
Viren Rana, DO, is a retinal specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at South Coast Retina Center. He cares for patients with age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinal disease, retinal tears and detachments, macular pucker, and complex post-traumatic problems. Dr. Rana also performs secondary intraocular lens repair and participates in clinical trials so eligible patients can access emerging therapies.
Born in New York City and raised in Michigan, Dr. Rana graduated cum laude from Saint Louis University with dual degrees in Broadcasting Journalism and Biology, earned his medical degree at Kansas City University School of Medicine, and completed a Master’s in Clinical Anatomy and Medical Education.
