About Me
Dr. Torsten Wiegand is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, where he provides medical and surgical care for a wide range of vitreoretinal conditions. He was born and raised in Germany, earned a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin, and received his medical degree from Columbia University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (Harvard Medical School) and a vitreoretinal fellowship at Tufts New England Medical Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.
Dr. Wiegand diagnoses and treats conditions such as retinal detachment, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes. He offers advanced medical therapies, laser procedures, and retinal surgery, and is actively involved in national clinical trials for the latest treatments for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
He has a special interest in macular degeneration, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis. Dr. Wiegand has published in peer-reviewed journals, holds patents from his research, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
