About Me
Dr. Timothy Kao is a comprehensive ophthalmologist providing eye care services to patients in Columbus, Georgia and surrounding areas. He joined West Georgia Eye Care Center in 2019 after practicing for three years in Minnesota. His medical interests include cataract surgery, glaucoma management, laser eye surgery, medical retina, functional eyelid surgery, and Botox injections.
Dr. Kao earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 2011 and completed an internship at Hennepin County Medical Center before returning to the University of Minnesota for his ophthalmology residency, which he finished in 2015. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and maintains memberships in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cornea and Refractive Surgery.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Kao has participated in volunteer activities providing direct eye care and glasses to underserved communities worldwide, including a medical mission in Southern Africa during his residency. He is married with two children and enjoys time with family, sports, outdoor activities, and cooking.
