Dr. Thomas Byrd

Dr. Thomas J. Byrd is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Byrd & Wyandotte, serving patients in southeast Michigan. He specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK, and the treatment of corneal disease, and he offers advanced refractive surgery options to address a range of vision needs. With expertise in both medical and surgical eye care, Dr. Byrd provides comprehensive management of conditions affecting the cornea and anterior segment of the eye.

Dr. Byrd completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Michigan through the accelerated Inteflex program. He went on to an internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital, followed by a two-year cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at the Louisiana State University Eye Center. He later served as Director of the Cornea Service at Henry Ford Health System, where he trained residents and helped credential surgeons in cornea and refractive procedures.
