She earned her doctorate in medicine from the State Pediatric Medical Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia, and worked as a pediatric ophthalmologist at the St. Petersburg Children's Hospital. Dr. Serednyakova then earned another medical degree with honors from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her surgical internship and residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where she became chief resident, followed by fellowship training in vitreoretinal diseases at Koch Eye Associates.
