About Me
Dr. Semchyshyn is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and external disease, with expertise in corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, and LASIK. He has been providing care at Duke for over 12 years and serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. His approach to patient care emphasizes compassionate, personalized attention, and he takes time to educate patients about their conditions and treatment plans so they can make informed decisions.
Dr. Semchyshyn has a clinical research focus on minimally invasive corneal transplant techniques, such as endothelial keratoplasty, which aims to maximize visual improvement with less invasive procedures. He also has expertise in advanced cataract surgery techniques, including the management of astigmatism to reduce dependence on eyeglasses after surgery.
