About Me

Dr. Tahsin Khundkar is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon at Pennsylvania Retina Specialists, providing comprehensive medical and surgical retinal care. His clinical expertise includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, retinal tears and detachments, macular surgery, complications of cataract surgery, ocular inflammation, and secondary intraocular lens implantation. He is recognized for his compassionate care, having been inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Khundkar graduated magna cum laude in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Florida and was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Scholar at the Pasteur Institute. He earned his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he served as national representative to the Association of American Medical Colleges. He completed his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College/Jamaica Hospital and a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has been invited to present his work at national conferences, receiving honors from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, Vit-Buckle Society, and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Previously, Dr. Khundkar served as a vitreoretinal surgeon at Concord Eye Center in New Hampshire before relocating to central Pennsylvania. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, track and field, weight-lifting, mountain biking, skiing, and history podcasts.
