About Me
Dr. Surendar Dwarakanathan is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in advanced cataract, cornea, and keratorefractive surgery. Known for his patient-centered approach and excellent bedside manner, Dr. Dwarakanathan treats a wide range of conditions including cataracts, corneal infections, and ocular surface disease. He performs advanced procedures such as no-blade refractive surgery, corneal transplantation including the revolutionary DSEK technique.
Dr. Dwarakanathan completed his residency at Cook County Hospital, where he served as chief resident, and subsequently completed a fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas, focusing on corneal and anterior segment disease and surgery. He has been actively involved in clinical research and teaching, serving as assistant professor at Rush Medical College and Indiana University, and continues to lecture to residents. He also travels to underserved regions to provide eye care.
As a co-founder of Helix Eye Care, Dr. Dwarakanathan brings innovative techniques to his practice and is dedicated to providing excellent care to improve his patients' quality of life.
