Dr. Stuart Sondheimer

Dr. Stuart Sondheimer is a Chicago ophthalmologist who was among the first surgeons in the United States to offer surgical correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. He has performed more than 12,000 refractive surgery procedures and over 10,000 cataract surgeries. A leader in his field, he has shared his expertise by teaching practicing ophthalmologists, residents, and medical students both in the United States and abroad. He has also served as a volunteer eye surgeon, helping patients in underdeveloped regions.

Having undergone vision correction surgery himself, Dr. Sondheimer understands the LASIK procedure from the patient's perspective. He has also performed vision correction surgery on several family members and fellow physicians.

Dr. Sondheimer is a native Chicagoan and resides in Wilmette with his wife. He has six children and devotes his time outside of practice to his family and civic affairs.
