About Me
Dr. Stephen Doro is a board-certified ophthalmologist currently serving as a Clinical Professor at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and an attending physician at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami and his Ph.D. from Yale University, followed by an internship at Greenwich Hospital and an ophthalmology residency at Boston University. Dr. Doro also completed sub-specialty training in pediatric ophthalmology at Boston Children's Hospital and neuro-ophthalmology at Boston City Hospital, as well as a fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.
Dr. Doro takes a comprehensive approach to eye care, treating conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, dry eye, eye infections, thyroid eye disease, strabismus, amblyopia, optic nerve disease, and eyelid growths. He emphasizes clear communication and individualized treatment plans, taking time to explain each condition and available options. Dr. Doro is particularly at ease with children and strives to provide high-quality, sensitive care for patients of all ages. He is prevention-oriented and offers a variety of vision screening services including slit lamp biomicroscopy, retinoscopy, glaucoma testing, and advanced diagnostic modalities such as OCT and fluorescein angiography.
