Dr. Stephan Chiu

Dr. Stephan Chiu is a board-certified ophthalmologist with a special focus on cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery. He trained in ophthalmology at UT Southwestern—one of the nation’s busiest residency programs—and completed subspecialty fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. Dr. Chiu offers modern options for vision correction, including laser-assisted cataract surgery and advanced lens technologies, and tailors each plan to fit a patient’s lifestyle and goals.

Patients value his clear explanations and calm, collaborative approach in the clinic and operating room. He performs a wide range of procedures, from LASIK and PRK to pterygium removal, corneal crosslinking, and corneal transplantation. Originally from Southern California, Dr. Chiu is excited to care for patients in the East Bay and is committed to delivering safe, evidence-based care with a personal touch.
