Meet Dr. Shawn Wilker
About Me
Dr. Shawn C. Wilker is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in retinal diseases. He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Florida, and finished his ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University. He then pursued a retina fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Wilker is committed to clear communication and takes time to explain conditions and treatment options to his patients.
His medical interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, uveitis, and other vascular diseases of the retina. He has served as primary investigator on numerous retina studies and previously held a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor at University Hospitals of Cleveland. As Vice Director of the Retinal Disease Analysis Reading Center (REDIARC), he has contributed to global research initiatives aimed at improving treatments for retina patients.
After eight years in private practice in Central Florida, Dr. Wilker returned to Ohio, where he sees patients at Retina Associates of Cleveland.
