About Me
Dr. Shareef Ahmed is a board-certified ophthalmologist and one of only a handful of dual fellowship-trained retina and glaucoma surgeons in the world. He specializes in the treatment of complex vitreoretinal diseases, including those that occur alongside primary or secondary glaucoma. His expertise covers a range of surgical techniques and medical management for these challenging conditions, with a focus on preserving vision and preventing blindness.
Dr. Ahmed is actively involved in advancing the field through his research, having presented at international meetings and authored several works in national peer-reviewed journals on topics such as surgical techniques, eye infections, and new ocular diseases. He is dedicated to teaching the next generation of ophthalmologists and collaborates with eye care professionals to improve the understanding of dangerous eye conditions. His commitment to patient care extends to international medical missions, where he provides care in underserved areas.
He believes strongly in a kind and supportive bedside manner, especially when treating patients with potentially blinding eye diseases. Dr. Ahmed is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
