About Me
Dr. Asheesh Tewari is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon at Michigan Retina Center in Dearborn, Michigan. Born and raised in Detroit, he graduated with honors from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute, where he served as Co-Chief Resident. He then completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Barnes Retina Institute at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Tewari specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of a range of vitreoretinal conditions, including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and complex retinal detachments. He is experienced in advanced microsurgical techniques, such as small-gauge (27-gauge) vitrectomy, and has a particular interest in new surgical approaches and novel treatments for macular degeneration. He holds an academic appointment as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University and continues to teach ophthalmology residents and retinal surgery fellows.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tewari has contributed to the field through publications and lectures nationally and internationally. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists (FASRS).
