Dr. Santiago Villazon

Dr. Villazón brings over 30 years of experience to his practice at Eye Care and Laser Surgery of Newton Wellesley. He graduated cum laude from Yale College and earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Boston University School of Medicine/Boston City Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Boston University. He also serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Boston University and an affiliated professor at the New England College of Optometry.

With more than 60,000 eye surgeries performed, Dr. Villazón is one of the most experienced surgeons in the greater Boston area. He specializes in cataract and refractive surgery, including laser-assisted cataract surgery. He was among the first in the region to adopt laser cataract surgery and has over a decade of experience with this advanced technology. He helps patients navigate the many options in cataract surgery and intraocular lens implants.
