About Me
Dr. Russell Hayhurst is a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialized fellowship training in glaucoma. He is the founder of the Glaucoma Institute of Austin, a clinic dedicated exclusively to the care of glaucoma patients. Dr. Hayhurst treats various forms of glaucoma, including open-angle and narrow-angle glaucoma, and provides comprehensive diagnosis and management, including medications and surgical procedures. He moved to Austin in 1994 and established the practice to focus on the unique needs of glaucoma patients.
Dr. Hayhurst completed his medical education at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and pursued advanced training with an ophthalmology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, where he also served as Academic Chief Resident and Glaucoma Fellow. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Hayhurst has been named one of the Best Doctors in America and is actively involved in the leadership of Seton Northwest Hospital.
