About Me
Dr. Robert Blau is an ophthalmologist who specializes in retinal conditions and surgery. He completed his medical education at Wayne State University School of Medicine and then pursued a rotating internship and ophthalmology residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit. He further advanced his expertise through a fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at the University of Wisconsin.
Since beginning his practice in 1973, Dr. Blau has focused on diagnosing and treating complex retinal disorders. His clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachment, epiretinal membranes, macular edema, and retinal vascular abnormalities. In addition to his clinical work, he teaches medical students and residents as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University School of Medicine and Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He also served as past Chairman of the division of Ophthalmology at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Oakland.
