About Me
Dr. Robert Abel Jr. is an emeritus board-certified ophthalmologist with extensive experience in corneal conditions and integrative eye care. He earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his ophthalmology residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, followed by a cornea fellowship at the University of Florida. Dr. Abel is a former Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University and remains on staff at Christiana Care Health System.
Dr. Abel has made significant contributions to eye care through his research on corneal transplants and infectious disease, holding two patents for artificial corneas. He is the author of the patient guide "The Eye Care Revolution" and has formulated eye vitamins for several companies. His humanitarian work includes founding eye banks and assisting in establishing a mobile eye van that has provided thousands of children with free eye exams and glasses.
