Dr. Richard Groat

Dr. Scott Groat is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who returned to his hometown of Greensboro after practicing in Texas for 14 years. He provides a range of eye care services with a focus on cataract and glaucoma surgery, oculoplastics, laser procedures, and contact lens fitting. His approach is rooted in a commitment to personalized, up-to-date care.

Dr. Groat's journey to medicine included an initial career as a personal trainer, which he credits with shaping his patient-centered approach. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas San Antonio and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas at Houston. He also dedicated a year to ophthalmology research at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Dr. Groat is dedicated to providing excellent eyecare with respect and strives to use the most current techniques. He is happy to be back in Greensboro with his family and looks forward to serving the community.
