About Me
Dr. Richard M. Klein is an attending physician specializing in vitreoretinal diseases at Montefiore Einstein, where he also serves as an assistant professor in ophthalmology and visual sciences. His clinical focus encompasses diseases of the vitreous and retina, with a particular interest in diabetic retinopathy and pathological myopia.
Dr. Klein’s research centers on diabetic retinopathy treatment and public health initiatives. Since 2011, he has led annual trips to Myanmar to help establish a program for detecting and treating diabetic retinopathy and to train local ophthalmologists.
He is board certified and holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
