About Me
Dr. Kevin Winkle is a retired pediatric ophthalmologist who dedicated his career to children's vision and adult eye care. He grew up in Seattle and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating in the top 5 percent of his class. He then earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the highest award in Pediatrics.
Dr. Winkle completed a pediatric internship at Madigan Army Medical Center and an ophthalmology residency before pursuing a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Duke University Medical Center. His training included adult strabismus, pediatric glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmology. He served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska, Hawaii, and Colorado, where he founded pediatric ophthalmology services and led refractive surgery programs.
Throughout his career, Dr. Winkle performed state-of-the-art cataract procedures, oculoplastic surgery, and glaucoma surgery for adults, while maintaining a focus on children's eye conditions. He has participated in over fifteen surgical missions worldwide and continues to teach and operate in Cambodia annually. Dr. Winkle retired from active practice in January 2025.
