Meet Dr. Richard Joseph Duffey

Dr. Richard J. Duffey is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been in private practice in Mobile for over 25 years. He earned his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of South Carolina, where he served as chief resident. His sub-specialty fellowship in advanced cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery was undertaken at the University of Minnesota with Dr. Richard L. Lindstrom, a pioneer in excimer laser technology.

Dr. Duffey specializes in cataract surgery, laser vision correction like LASIK, and all forms of cornea surgery including transplants. He has performed numerous refractive surgeries such as radial keratotomy, astigmatic keratotomy, PRK, and conductive keratoplasty. Dr. Duffey was a principal investigator in the CRS-sponsored FDA study for LASIK and has written articles and chapters in ophthalmic literature. He limits his practice to these areas and has trained surgeons both domestically and internationally through organizations like ORBIS.
