About Me
Dr. Ricardo Aviles is an ophthalmologist who has been with Cochise Eye & Laser since 2004. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, where he served as Chief Resident, and earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in 2000. Prior to his medical career, Dr. Aviles worked as a mechanical engineer.
Dr. Aviles is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in a range of eye conditions and surgeries. He regularly performs cataract surgery, including dropless options for patients who cannot use eyedrops, as well as pterygium removal and eyelid procedures. In addition to surgical care, he treats glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration, offering treatments such as avastin injections for wet macular degeneration.
Dr. Aviles is also an inventor, having designed the Aviles Surgical Headrest to improve patient comfort during surgery and created a device to enhance hygiene in eyedrop administration. These innovations reflect his commitment to advancing eye care technology and patient safety.
