Benjamin J. Fowler, MD, PhD, is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for adults with medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. He evaluates and treats conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and complex retinal injuries, pairing meticulous diagnostics with patient-centered discussions about risks, benefits, and recovery. Deborah I. Witkin, MD, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist at Eye Care of Maine in Waterville. She welcomes patients for full-spectrum medical and surgical eye care and is especially interested in small-incision cataract surgery, glaucoma, and the medical management of retina conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Witkin earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency through the Tufts program. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Witkin offers individualized cataract surgery planning, including monofocal, toric, and multifocal intraocular lens options, and performs micro-invasive glaucoma surgery when appropriate. Hallie Rae Hahn, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained refractive and cataract surgeon at Maine Eye Center in Portland. She focuses on helping patients achieve lifelong visual performance with individualized surgical plans and a clear, friendly counseling style. Dr. Hahn graduated summa cum laude in biological engineering from the University of Florida and earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and received the Merck Manual Award. She completed ophthalmology residency at the Storm Eye Institute, earning the William Vallotton Award for academic excellence. Dr. Hahn pursued advanced fellowship training through the Refractive Surgery Alliance and the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences at Kugler Vision in Omaha. She offers the full spectrum of modern refractive procedures—including EVO ICL, LASIK, PRK, and refractive lens exchange—as well as standard and complex cataract surgery with technology-forward planning. Dedicated to service, she has participated in international surgical outreach and remains active in ASCRS, AAO, WCRS, and Women in Ophthalmology.
