About Me
Dr. Rajen Desai is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and glaucoma surgery. With over 20 years of experience, he brings the latest advances in vision research to his surgical practice, including laser-assisted cataract surgery and advanced intraocular lens implants that correct astigmatism for both distance and near vision. Dr. Desai is known for his high surgical success rates and has been selected by ocular device companies to be the first surgeon in New Jersey to introduce many minimally invasive surgical devices and techniques for glaucoma.
Dr. Desai completed his undergraduate degree with honors at Stanford University and earned his medical degree from Stanford Medical School. He then completed his residency, chief residency, and a glaucoma fellowship at Northwestern University, one of the top medical centers in the nation. He has produced over 50 peer-reviewed publications and presentations and has served as a study chair and principal investigator for FDA clinical trials aimed at improving eye surgery outcomes.
Passionate about teaching and excellent surgical outcomes, Dr. Desai has received several awards, including the Patient’s Choice Award, the Best Teacher of Medical Students Award, the Society of Heed Fellows Award, and the America’s Top Ophthalmologist award. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American College of Surgeons.
