About Me
Dr. Peter Bekendam has over 20 years of experience and has been a part of the Pacific Eye Institute team since 2016. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in cataract and anterior segment surgery, glaucoma procedures, and comprehensive ophthalmology, having performed over 20,000 procedures in the greater Inland Empire.
Dr. Bekendam takes care to explain all available options to his patients, works to understand their interests, and allows time to develop a plan that matches their individual needs. He makes sure to explain what is covered by insurance and to disclose the costs and benefits of technology not covered by insurance. In addition to his role at Pacific Eye Institute, he currently serves as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Loma Linda University Medical Center and is the Founder and President of Sight Restoration International, a non-profit that brings vision-restoration surgery to patients in developing countries.
He was honored to be elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society while in medical school. Outside of work, he loves to spend time with his family, travel, read and collect books, build Lego, paint gaming miniatures, and write fiction.
