Meet Dr. Pedro Cervantes Fanning

Dr. Pedro Cervantes is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon who specializes in glaucoma and cataract surgery. He received his medical degree at the Mexican Autonomous National University (UNAM) and completed two residencies in ophthalmology, one at the APEC in Mexico City and another from Northwestern University in Chicago, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Cervantes also completed a glaucoma fellowship at APEC and an internship in internal medicine at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

He is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and is dedicated to providing care with a unique understanding of Spanish-speaking patients. Dr. Cervantes has done extensive volunteer work in disadvantaged communities, serving as the only doctor in a rural Mexican area and performing cataract surgery in Mexico and India. His research in glaucoma has been published and presented for ARVO (American Research and Vision in Ophthalmology). His clinical interests include cataract surgery, femto laser-assisted cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, pediatric glaucoma, refractive surgery, and pterygium removal.
