Meet Dr. Paula Newman-Casey
About Me
Dr. Paula Anne Newman-Casey is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in glaucoma and cataract surgery. She serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of Michigan and is the co-director of the Kellogg Eye Center for eHealth. Her clinical practice focuses on the medical, laser, and surgical management of glaucoma, as well as the treatment of cataracts and anterior segment diseases. Dr. Newman-Casey is dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care and helping patients preserve their vision.
After completing her medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School, Dr. Newman-Casey remained at the University of Michigan for her ophthalmology residency and a glaucoma fellowship. During her fellowship, she also earned a Master’s in Health and Health Care Research. She is actively involved in research that explores how technology can extend the reach of the health care system, empowering patients to better manage their own chronic eye conditions.
In addition to her clinical and research roles, Dr. Newman-Casey directs an outreach initiative that provides free ophthalmic care to patients referred through the local Hope Clinic. Her work reflects a commitment to improving eye health delivery through innovation and community service.
