About Me

Dr. Nafiseh Hashemi is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience, specializing in neuro-ophthalmology. She completed a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship under Andrew Lee, MD at Houston Methodist Hospital, an ophthalmology residency at The University of Texas Health in Houston, and a surgical internship at the University of Tennessee. Before moving to the United States, she earned her medical degree from Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran and trained residents while leading blindness-prevention efforts in underserved regions. Dr. Hashemi provides thorough, team-based care for complex disorders at the intersection of neurology and ophthalmology. She collaborates closely with primary care physicians, neurologists, and neurosurgeons so patients receive clear explanations and a personalized plan. Her clinical interests span optic neuritis and other optic neuropathies, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, thyroid eye disease, myasthenia gravis, tumors affecting the visual pathways, and vision loss related to stroke. An active clinician–researcher, she publishes and presents regularly, and she brings that rigor into every consultation to help patients understand their diagnosis and choose the safest, most effective treatment.
