About Me

Dr. Mounir Bashour is an ophthalmologist with extensive experience in laser vision correction, having performed over 80,000 ocular procedures since 1994. He specializes in LASIK, PRK, and Laser PresbyVision, and is among the first ophthalmologists to perform laser refractive procedures in the United States. Dr. Bashour is known for his expertise in advanced custom wavefront procedures and has worked in multiple laser centers across Canada.

Dr. Bashour completed his biomedical engineering degree at Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree at McGill University. He specialized in ophthalmology at George Washington University and completed three post-doctoral fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology, refractive surgery, and oculoplastics. Additionally, he holds a doctorate in biomedical engineering and medical science from the University of Toronto.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bashour has held academic appointments as an assistant professor of ophthalmology at McGill University and as a clinical assistant professor at the Université de Sherbrooke, where he directed ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery and pediatric ophthalmology. His research has been recognized with awards, including the NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship and the Best Scientific Paper award from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Bashour also serves as the editor of the Wired Ophthalmologist section in the Techniques in Ophthalmology journal.
