About Me
Dr. Mitchell Romito is an ophthalmologist with extensive training and experience in complex eye surgeries and treatments. He graduated summa cum laude with Honors in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University, where he served as President of the university chapter of Tau Beta Pi, The Engineering Honor Society. His early interest in ophthalmology led him to become Prevent Blindness Ohio Certified.
He continued his studies at The Ohio State University College of Medicine on a full Dean’s Scholarship, served on the Honor and Professionalism Committee, and published research on a novel cancer therapy in the journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. Dr. Romito completed his Internal Medicine internship and Ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he designed and prototyped his own surgical instrument for use in glaucoma surgery.
Dr. Romito has extensive training in complex cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), corneal surgery, intravitreal injections, and myriad laser treatment modalities. He diagnoses and treats diseases affecting the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve. Outside of medicine, he enjoys making homemade pizzas, hiking, playing chess, and following Ohio sports teams.
