About Me

Dr. Ibarra is an ophthalmologist and retinal specialist who cares for patients with vitreoretinal diseases at Kaiser Permanente Honolulu Medical Office. His practice focuses on retinal surgery and medical management of conditions such as retinal detachments, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal vascular diseases. He believes that good vision is an important part of quality of life and approaches each patient with the same compassion and care he would give a family member.

Dr. Ibarra was inspired to pursue medicine after volunteering in an emergency room as a student at the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to earn his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco, and completed residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery. He has presented on retinal surgery and vitreoretinal diseases at conferences across the United States and has authored articles in several peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, and the American College of Surgeons.
