About Me
Dr. Michael Bivona is a cornea and comprehensive ophthalmologist who helps patients see—and feel—better by focusing on the front of the eye. He treats dry eye and other ocular surface disease, manages complex corneal disorders, and performs cataract surgery tailored to a patient’s visual goals. His visits emphasize listening first, then building a practical plan that matches findings on exam with the symptoms that matter most to the patient.
Dr. Bivona serves on the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He completed ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate after medical school at SUNY Upstate, followed by fellowship training at Weill Cornell Medicine/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He collaborates with optometry and subspecialty colleagues to streamline diagnostics and postoperative care and aims to provide clear guidance at every step—from drop regimens to recovery timelines—so patients know what to expect and how to protect long-term ocular health.
