About Me
Dr. Merkley is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has focused his career on refractive surgery and helping patients reduce dependence on glasses and contact lenses. He offers a range of vision-correction options and works to match each patient with the approach that best fits their eyes, goals, and lifestyle.
Dr. Merkley trained in ophthalmology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium and earned his medical degree at Saint Louis University. Early in his career, he worked at the Air Force’s largest hospital, where he performed vision procedures for active-duty service members, retirees, and their families. He now serves patients in Boise and across Idaho, bringing careful attention to both small details and big-picture outcomes. Dr. Merkley takes time to explain what to expect before, during, and after surgery, and he prioritizes safety and patient comfort throughout the experience.
