About Me
Dr. Michael Pokabla is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma surgery and small incision cataract surgery. He has been with Glaucoma Consultants of the Capital Region since 2012, where he provides comprehensive eye care with a focus on surgical interventions for glaucoma and cataracts.
Dr. Pokabla's training includes a bachelor's degree from the University of Mount Union and a medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and pursued advanced fellowship training in glaucoma surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His research involves chemical evaluation of glaucoma medications and developing telemedicine protocols for emergency room use.
Currently, Dr. Pokabla serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Albany Medical College, teaching ophthalmology residents at the Stratton VA Medical Center and Albany Medical Center. He is actively engaged in clinical research as an investigator and principal investigator, aiming to improve treatment outcomes for patients.
