About Me
Dr. Michael J. Davis is a retina specialist who earned his undergraduate and medical degrees through an accelerated BS/MD program at Kent State University, graduating summa cum laude in 2004 at the top of his class. During his studies, he spent a semester in Geneva interning with the International Red Cross, working on health projects to strengthen organizations in Africa. His dedication was recognized with the Service to College award and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Davis then advanced his expertise with a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at Illinois Retina Associates and Rush University, training under nationally and internationally respected clinicians and surgeons.
His research focuses on the treatment of diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment surgery, ocular infections, and retinal imaging. Dr. Davis has published peer-reviewed articles in journals such as RETINA and the Archives of Ophthalmology, and presented his work at major conferences including the American Society of Retina Specialists Congress. He is an active member of professional societies like the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
