Dr. Mauricio Perez

Mauricio A. Perez, M.D., is an ophthalmologist at Cincinnati Eye Institute who specializes in complex cataract surgery, anterior segment reconstruction, and corneal and refractive surgery. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Chile, followed by four years of advanced fellowship training in Chile, the United States, and Canada at institutions including Fundación Oftalmológica Los Andes, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Toronto.

Dr. Perez has served as a staff specialist at the Sydney Eye Hospital and is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He is also a faculty member at the University of Cincinnati and teaches fellow surgeons through the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. An accomplished academic, he has authored peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for leading ophthalmology journals.

Outside of his professional work, he enjoys traveling with his family, playing guitar and piano, and is passionate about basketball. He was named to The Ophthalmologist's "Top 40 Under 40" Power List in 2015 in recognition of his contributions to the field.
